At the Power Slap 10 post-fight conference, a question was posed to slap-fighting athlete Isaih Quinones following his second-round TKO win over Brandon Bordeaux. A media member asked the middleweight competitor why combat sports fans new to slap-fighting should tune in to Power Slap.

Quinones offered a fairly straightforward answer. According to him, fight fans enjoy watching knockouts and brutal finishes. Slap-fighting has that in abundance, so viewers intent on seeing carnage will not be left disappointing if they give Power Slap a chance.

"New people should definitely watch this because everybody knows they usually watch UFC or boxing for knockouts now. People used to watch Mike Tyson hoping for a knockout. And same thing with UFC. I know when I was growing up I wanted to see a knockout. When you see a submission you're kind of bummed out. But now you have the instant gratification for a knockout and you don't have to sit there and watch matches for four or five rounds. You'll see a knockout within seconds."

Quinones does have a point. Few things excite combat sports fans more than knockouts. It is part of what created so much mystique for Mike Tyson during his reign of terror in boxing's heavyweight division.

Moreover, it is for a similar reason that MMA fans have gravitated to UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

Power Slap is expanding its reach beyond American borders

Thus far, Power Slap has held 10 events, 9 of which were all on American soil. The lone event outside of the United States took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Now, the promotion returns to the Middle East with its 11th show.

On Jan. 30, 2025, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia plays host to the anticipated rematch between Koa 'Da Crazy Hawaiian' Viernes and Vasily 'Dumpling' Kamotskii, with whom he drew in a match on Oct. 24.
